I absolutely agree….T20 is fun to watch with the big hitting and shorter time….but true cricket lovers love TEST matches…they are accepted to be the golden standard of the game

@n1ck822 “Ian Botham is an idiot”

So he would’ve become one of the greatest all rounders in the world quicker if he hadn’t been? What?

@DAJAZDJ1 Botham talks sense Test Cricket is the purest form of the game & will not die……Unlike T20 which is baseball.

@DAJAZDJ1 All the more reason TO listen to him. Ganja is the thinking man’s drug….unlike, say Cocaine or Alcohol.

@mattyn5150 they dont get attendances cos they played during the week when most people at work and the people who don’t work wont be able to afford to go. Out of a 5 day test u gonna get a fulll house on a sat and sun the other 3 days are at most half full

@DAJAZDJ1 As I said mate test cricket does struggle with attendences but that’s not the point! More people watch X Factor than Match of the Day…doesn’t make X Factor better! I speak solely as a cricket fan…text cricket is still the ultimate test and I don’t think it will die. It withstood ODI and you can’t compare an international test with a county game…test games involving the top 8 do generally get decent attendences…but again that’s not the point

@mattyn5150 THAT EXCITEMENT AIN’T THERE BECAUSE EMPTY STADIUMS MEANS NO ATMOSPHERE THESE TEST GUYS CANT ENJOY PLAYING FOR 5 DAYS IN FRONT OF A COUPLE HUNDRED (COUNTY CHAMPIONSHIP EXACTLY THE SAME)OR PLAYING 20-20 IN FRONT OF A FULL HOUSE TEST CRICKET IS PLAYED DURING THE WEEK WELL PEOPLE WORK DURING THE WORK 20-20 PLAYED AT WEEKENDS OR NIGHTS APART FROM ENGLAND TEST CRICKET’S REALLY ON IT’S LAST LEGS AND WILL BE DONE IN 5-10 YRS(HOPEFULLY)BOTHAM SMOKES TOO MUCH WEED TO TALK SENSE(READ HIS BOOK)

@DAJAZDJ1 True test cricket will always struggle with attendences but I believe it’s still the ultimate test of cricket ability and I don’t think there’s anything more absorbing than the final day of a test when you trying to get x number of wickets to win or bat out the day to earn a draw…edge of your seat stuff ball after ball…all day

I’m a fan of most forms of the game, i enjoy a good test but i also like the fact of the instant gratification (well 3 hours ish) that can be taken from T20 and similar limited over games

@mattyn5150 TEST CRICKET’S DEAD IN THE WATER APART FROM THE ASHES IT’S PLAYED MAINLY IN EMPTY STADIUMS DURING THE WEEK WHEN MOST PEOPLE ARE AT WORK

he is so right about T20, & i love the no preparation/”swing from the hip” approach England should take.

@flipleg – i came to love cricket as a kid watching test cricket. im in my mid 20’s now and still love it. to be honest, its only because kids born in the 00’s have short attention spans and don’t have the intelligence to understand the strategy and subtlety that makes test cricket so good. furthermore, T20 basically stops kids from wanting to become bowlers….

Love it! Finally some sense over twenty20! T20 is like the penalty shoot out of cricket! Test is where it’s at! The cream rises to the top and team that plays the best cricket wins!
