Sachin Tendulkar Biography

Sachin Ramesh Tendulkar is an Indian cricketer widely regarded as one of the greatest batsmen ever to play this game. He is the leading run scorer and has many records under his belt. He has the highest number of centuries in test and one day international cricket. He is the only batsman to score a double century in a one day international match. He is the only player in the world to score fifty centuries in test cricket. He was the first player to cross ten thousand one day international runs and also the first to cross every subsequent thousand run mark that has been crossed in one day cricket history. He passed 30,000 runs in international cricket on 20th November 2009. He also holds a world record for playing the highest number of test and one day international matches.

Sachin Tendulkar was born in Mumbai and had a passion for cricket right from childhood. This passion of his led him to being honoured with the Padma Vibhushan award and the Rajiv Gandhi Khel Ratna award. He became the first sportsperson and first person without an aviation background to be awarded the honorary rank of Group Captain by the Indian Air Force. He won the 2010 Sir Garfield Sobers trophy for cricketer of the year at the ICC awards.

Sachin Tendulkar’s early domestic career began when he was aged just 15 years and 232 days. He scored 100 not out in his debut first class match for Mumbai against Gujarat, making him the youngest Indian to score a century in first class debut. His international career began in the 1989 Indian tour of Pakistan where he could not score much but faced the pace attack of the Pakistan team well. He played his first test match against Pakistan in Karachi aged just 16. He rose through the ranks with his performance improving exponentially in every match. In the 2011 world cup, Sachin Tendulkar was the leading run scorer of the tournament for India with 482 runs at an average of 53.55.

Sachin Tendulkar’s fan following all over India is so great that he is unable to lead a normal life. He is considered as the god of Indian cricket and has been an inspiration for most of the young Indian players. He is an asset to the world of cricket and is one of the greatest batsmen ever in the history of this game.
