JUST ANY OTHER MATCH

The Australian middle order batsman, George Bailey, has said that he is going to take the first Ashes test match as any other cricket match.

Bailey has been included in the Australian test team for the first time for the opening test match of the upcoming Ashes series. Not all the people are happy with this decision of the Australian selectors. There are a few people who believe that the squad for the test matches should be selected on the basis of the Sheffield Shield performances and thus, before Bailey, those players who are performing consistently in first class cricket should have been given the opportunity. So, clearly, there will be pressure on Bailey to prove those people wrong.

When the Australian ODI vice captain was asked whether he will be nervous while going out to bat in the Brisbane test match, he told one sports betting company “Yes, surely. But then I get nervous when I go out to bat for Tasmania as well. Being nervous is not a bad thing I reckon. As far as I am concerned, I play freely when I get nervous.”

“I am going to take this match as any other cricket match. No matter at which level you are playing, the main thing is to do the basics right and that’s what I will look to do.”

When asked about making his debut in test matches in a high profile series like Ashes, Bailey said, “I am not bothered about that. As a player, you just look for the opportunity and you try to grab it when it comes your way. It doesn’t matter against whom you are getting that opportunity.”

Bailey has got quite a lot of experience in first class cricket. He has made close to 100 first class appearances for his domestic side Tasmania.
