BOPARA HITS 38

Ravi Bopara played a decent knock of 38 runs for Chittagong kings in the BPL match against Barisal Burners and helped his team in winning the match. His knock of 38 runs on that low and slow wicket was extremely valuable.

Bopara didn’t take too many deliveries in scoring those runs. He faced 29 deliveries and hit five boundaries.

Earlier, in the morning, the captain of Barisal Burners Brad Hodge won the toss and decided to field first. Ravi Bopara and Naeem Islam came to open the innings for Chittagong and they gave their team a very good start. Both of them were looking comfortable against the slower bowlers.

The opening pair added 52 runs for the first wicket. The partnership was broken by Kabir Ali who dismissed Naeem at the score of 19. Bopara also departed soon after playing a very good knock under the circumstances. It was Shafiul Islam who got the all important wicket of Bopara.

After Bopara got out, the run rate of Chittagong Kings fell down dramatically. The batsmen started finding it difficult to score boundaries. Since the boundaries were not coming regularly, they tried to play risky shots and in the process, they threw their wickets away.

In the final few overs, Jacob Oram and Ryan ten Doeschate hit some lusty blows and took Chittagong to a respectable total. At the end of 20 overs, the score of Chittagong Kings was 129 runs for the loss of 7 wickets.

The Barisal Burners team didn’t bat well in reply. Except Brad Hodge, no other Barisal batsman looked in good form and all of them struggled against the slower bowlers of Chittagong. The Barisal team managed to score just 108 runs in 20 overs and lost the match by 21 runs.

Bopara did a decent job with the ball as well. He bowled a couple of overs in which he gave away 8 runs and took 1 wicket. He was declared man of the match for his good all round performance.
